Super Smash Bros Character Wishlist
Super Smash Bros. is coming to Switch this year and everyone is speculating on who they would love to see join the fight. These are some characters that are on our wishlist:
Back in the glorious gaming age of the 90’s, one of the biggest names in video games was that charming bear and bird, Banjo-Kazooie. These characters had arguably the best two 3D platforming game on the Nintendo 64. Sadly for gamers all over the world, Rare was bought by Microsoft when the original Xbox came out. After that, we got an unmentionable game of the two characters we grew to love. That doesn’t stop us from loving the two and wanting these classic Nintendo characters in the game.
The only roadblock: Nintendo. Phil Spencer of Xbox has come out time and time again that he would love to see the duo in the game. The characters are prime for the successful fighting game as they already have a giant library of moves that could be implemented for the game. It seems Nintendo is hesitant on including Banjo-Kazooie. Why? We are not sure. Our guess is that it could be licensing issues. Maybe Microsoft is wanting a bit too much compensation for the characters to be included. Another possibility is that Nintendo just doesn’t want a competing companies IP in their game. We may never know.
2. King K Rool
Yet another one of Rare’s great creations (are you seeing a trend? Yeah, they used to be awesome). Super Smash Bros. seems seriously lacking in the villain department. We only have a few baddies to play with as it is. King K Rool would be an excellent addition to the game. He has many moves that can be used, and he is just a funny character to look at. Obviously, he would be a heavy hitter, but that would be perfect for Donkey Kong to fight it out directly with his rival.
Donkey Kong doesn’t have too much of representation in Super Smash Bros. While there is Diddy Kong, there isn’t anyone else included. We would suggest using one of the many other characters like Dixie Kong, but we want another villain! The best part about this is that Nintendo owns this IP so there would be no problem adding him in. It’s a win-win for everyone involved!
This one is like Bigfoot. You think it could exist, but you won’t believe unless you actually see it. Ridley is one of those characters where it only makes sense. Going along with the theme of “WE WANT MORE VILLAINS”, Ridley would be a perfect match. Nintendo says time and time again that “Ridley is just too big for the game.” We don’t buy it. I believe they can make it work. We don’t even care if they shrink Ridley down a bit so the size is small enough. We just want Ridley! Do we need to go into any more detail? Well, Ridley is another rep for Metroid. Yes, we have Samus and Zero Suit Samus (<3), but they “technically” are the same character. They do have different move sets, but the argument could be made that they are the same. Now, we always want more representation from Nintendo IPs that are not Fire Emblem. Ridley could be that perfect fit! Another large fighter and a villain. What more could you ask for?
This was our wishlist for a few characters that we would love to see in Smash. Do you agree? Disagree? Let us know what you think below!
Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo Switch is set to release at some point in 2018.
