Pokémon: Let’s Go, Pikachu! and Pokémon: Let’s Go, Eevee! announed for Switch
Pokemon fans delight, because you are getting a brand new mainline Pokemon game on the Nintendo Switch! On May 29, Nintendo announced the next mainline Pokemon games, Let’s Go: Pikachu! and Let’s Go: Eevee!
Interestingly, it works with the mobile game Pokemon Go. You can catch Pokemon in the app and transfer them into the game and play with. This feature should bring new players to the app as well as bringing older players back, myself included. Another interesting feature is that it has local multiplayer. No, not just for battles, but for co-op. This feature will be great for loved ones to play together and for children not to fight over who gets to play first.
One criticism that I am finding for myself is the camera. From the trailer (which you can watch below), it looks like a usual 3DS titles just with better graphics. Personally, I was hoping for revitalized graphics and not the top-down look that is usually used in RPG titles.
The mechanics for catching Pokemon is almost exactly the same as Pokemon Go, which is a great addition as the catching mechanic is tight. There is also a new Pokeball controller that can be used with the game. It seems that the game is entirely playable with the Pokeball controller. You catch Pokemon by making a throwing motion. I personally can’t wait to see people attempt to play Super Smash Bros. with it!
Pokémon: Let’s Go, Pikachu! and Pokémon: Let’s Go, Eevee! is coming November 16, 2018.
